When I first read the book I thought that Katniss would have no chance of surviving after I read about the other contestants. At first I thought the girl that Katniss calls fox face, I thought she wasn't going to be a very good contestant, so I was really surprised when she almost made to the end. I was also surprised that some tributes had volunteered to go to the Hunger Games. But I wouldn't be surprised if Thresh had volunteered. I was really surprised when Rue and Katniss joined forces because I thought that Katniss would go after her first because she was so small. I had really hoped Rue survived the Hunger Games.
I agree with Molly. I thought Katniss would sure die after reading all about the other contestants. Most of the other contestants were big and strong and had an incredible strong will to stay alive and win. I thought the only way for Katniss to have a will to win is if she stayed with brave Rue. Poor Katniss lost Rue and I thought her heart was never going to recover. Rue was a good friend to Katniss and they had survived such a long time together. I was very concerned on what Katniss was going to do with out her. The other contestants would surely kill her. Only the best of the best were left. There was only three real choices left for her. One: she could try and survive on her own. This would be hard because she didn't have anyone defending her. Two: she could make an alliance with a person from another district. This would be sort of silly becuase most alliances turn on each other and end up killing each other. This would have to happen anyway because only one district could win. Three: She could join Peeta and they could help their district win together.
