Katniss is a girl who has struggled to survive for most of her life. Putting food on the table was an enormous task for her and consumed most her thoughts. She was the sole reason her mother and younger sister had not died from starvation. Being picked to enter the Hunger Games is possibly the worst thing that could happen to her family, but in a way it was a blessing. Before the games, her main focase was to find food and watch her mouth. If she said something offensive to the Capital, she would surely face a beating or worse consecquences. The only time she could release and be herself was hunting in the woods with Gale. But even then, she had to focase on finding the game and could not sort through her thoughts. After entering the Arena, Katniss was isolated from all human life. Even though she had to watch her back, she had time to think and sort out her thoughts. She came to understand herself better. She also learned more about life in other districts. She became greatful for the laid back Peacekeepers in her district. She also learned more about the Capital than she cared to know. She learned the full extent of the city's cruelty. They would sit and watch people die for entertainment. So overall, the games have been a cruel learning expirence for Katniss. If I were in her position i would be overcome with hatred for the Capital and protest by comiting suicide. It would be better to die than be perpetually tortured by the arogant leaders in the Capital.
I think that Katniss is very smart to figure out what she can do to help Peeta. I wonder if she really has feelings for him? I think her going to the feast was very smart. I was surprised when the knive hit her head and then amazed when thresh saved her and let her go free. I really can not wait to see what happens in the next chapters!!
Hadley, I also wonder if Katniss has feelings for Peeta. She tells herself that this star-crossed lovers routine is all fake, but does she really mean it? She nursed him back to health and went, against his will to the Cornucopia to save his life. Is she falling in love? Is Peeta faking this star-crossed lovers act or not? It seems not as real at first but is he falling for her? These are the questions I hope to find out about in the next chapters. I just can't wait to find out.
Katniss did do really good taking care of Petta, I would have been grossed out by cleaning up the wound on his leg. I also wonder if she has feeling for Petta. I think she does but she still thinks shes pretending for the camera. I really want to see what happens at the end between her a Petta. Katniss is really brave to me. I cant wait to finish the book!
I believe that Katniss is starting to trust Peeta more. She finally realizes that Peeta may have been trying to protect her by staying with the career tributes. I thought it was awesome how Katniss used her tracking skills and the knowledge of the land to find Peeta. I believe Katniss can trust Peeta because they are now allies. I thought it was funny how Katniss’ motherly instinct kicked in, and she helped Peeta with all his things wrong with his body. I thought Katniss was a genius when she thought about what she had to go help Peeta. One thing Katniss should have done is poured some her iodine on the wound because that would clear out any infection in the wound. I believe that Katniss really has feelings for Peeta because she never left his side at night. I was shocked at how well Katniss managed to make warm soup with out a fire. I probably never would of thought about cooking a soup with some hot rocks and the air temperature around her. I thought that Katniss cares a lot about Peeta because she is risking her life for medicine for Peeta. I believe that Katniss is starting to like Peeta more than friends. I say this because she actually wants another kiss from Peeta.
