Peeta Mellark

  1. Peeta Mellark, in my personal view is not bad. Katniss, for obvious reasons sees Peeta as an enemy. I think that he is honestly a good person and cares about Katniss. Katniss should see him as an enemy, because they are going to be killing eachother in the games, but Peeta's "act" isn't an act, I think it is real. When Peeta cleans up Haymatch Abernathy, he does it as a kind person. Katniss thinks the "kind boy" act is a strategy, I disagree though. Its real, he was the boy that brought Katniss the bread when she was starving! Katniss should look at him more simpathetically, like I do.

  2. I just read the first 4 chapters, and enjoyed them!! I think Peeta is sweet, sensative, and king. I get the impression that Katniss does not trust him, she feels that this is his strategy. In my opinion he is just that kind of kid. Knowing that he has a mean mom and a nice dad, it probably affects him. I think having two different parents might make him sensative, knowing that his dad who has a sweet personality is there for him and his mom who is mean is not there for him. I am baffled though, is he really sweet and sensative or is he just using a strategy. I think he is sweet and sensative and not just doing this for a strategy. I think this by looking back to the story when he brings her two loaves of bread, he was being very kind not even knowing that they would be in the hunger games together against eachother. I think they may learn to work as a team and become a force and win, but I know that is against the rules..So we will see if my idea is right.

  3. I think that after finishing the book, I realized that Peeta was actually a good person. I was confused about his feelings for Katniss at first, but then I realized that he really loved her. In my opinion, Peeta was a very brave, courageous person. He often risked his life for Katniss. He did not give up hope after Cato cut him. Peeta is a very caring person, especially when he stood by Katniss during the games. If I had the choice of abandoning someone and sticking with them, I would probably stick with them. I think that Peeta had to make this descision, but it was not hard to make. I think that he did not leave Katniss, because he felt bad for her, and he loved her...but that is just my opinion.

  4. Katniss grew up in a very different world than Peeta. In Katniss's world it is rare that people are kind and give away food. It is not that the people from the Seam are mean but they can barely feed themselves and are hardened by their tragic lives. Peeta however grew up in a world where he always had enough to eat with a father that showed genuine care to all. Katniss doesn't know how to handle a nice person since it is so rare that she would encounter one. In her world, when someone does something nice they expect something in return. Peeta does kind things and expects nothing back. Katniss feels that she owes him and is not sure of how to repay him since what is valuable her (such as food) is not valueable to Peeta.

  5. I agree with Camille. Katniss and Peeta are different in many ways. Katniss has always had to struggle for food while Peeta has always been given an abundance of food. When they were getting all ready before the hunger games, Katniss was overwhelmed and excited about all the beautiful clothes that she had gotten to wear and all of the abundance of food she had been given. Peeta was more on the relaxed side, knowing that he could get this all back home. Katniss and Peeta, in my opinion, seem to not like each other at all in the begining of the book. Even though they were from the same district they split up and survive on their own.

  6. I thought that Peeta was scheming his victory in the Hunger Games, knowing he or Katniss would die eventually. I also find some good in him mostly because of the loaf of bread he gave Katniss. I also thought he was a likely top 5 canidate in the Hunger Games seeing how he is well fed and strong, unlike many residents of the districts who struggle to find food on a daily basis.
