Primrose Everdeen is described as a a small delicate girl. Her sweet demenor and genuine care for all make her nearly impossible to hate. Everyone in District Twelve adore Katniss's younger sister. It is not suprising that the entire comuntity protects the young girl. They do not ,however, give Prim enough credit for her strength. True, she is not physically skilled, but she exemplifies an outstanding emotional strength. When tradgey befalls their family, the girls' mother draws into herself and loses contact with the ones closest to her. Katniss becomes angry with her mother even though she changes as well. Katniss hardens her heart and shields her feelings. She takes over the roll of her father and begins to hunt for food. Although Katniss puts food on the table, it is Prim who holds the family together. Prim is the one person Katniss allows herself to love. She is so intent on keeping Prim safe, she does not realize the young girl's strength. Prim is capable of caring for herself and helping others. She is not as helpless as she may seem. She may not be able to hunt but she does however possess the ability to deal with, and move on from tragities. Although this does not seem a skill necessary for life, it is important for life in a society filled with sorrow.
I agree on camille on the fact that Prim is a delicate little girl, and the fact that she has great emotional strength, and that she can move on from tragities. But what i do not agree on is that she could care for herself. How would those abilites listed above going to help you get food in society? I mean, she cant hunt, right??? She could apply for a tessera, but that might be the only way she could get food.
I agree with Ian and Camille that prim is a fragile and delicate person. I also agree with them that she has great emotional strength. But in a way, her love for her mother is starving her. Katniss wanted to tell someone that her mother can't take care of them but prim loved her mother too much and katniss could see that. If they told someone that they are not taken care of, they would take the two to a home where they would be fed and cared for.
